Not so übercoolische by Glacial23

3:00 minutes (4.13 MB)

This would have been my Streaming (aka Freestyle) Music entry at Blockparty 2008, but technical difficulties on the party's end prevented that from happening. Kind of a take on Berlin minimal techno.

Funny story: I was playing this on the air, and another DJ ran in and asked if I'd heard of Ricardo Villalobos and/or Radio Slave. I apparently did something right - maybe the track is übercoolische after all. Magda make the tea!

Oscillator Drift by glacial23

15:01 minutes (20.63 MB)

Developed over the course of several weeks sometime between 1998 and 2000. Started as a one-hour collage with musical overdubs. Edited and overdubbed into a 1/2 hour piece the next week, and then edited/overdubbed into the 15 minute version here. Unfortunately, the first two revisions are lost to the ages.

This was also the piece playing at 2:45am at Scorched Nuts when I was asked to stop DJing.

Samples lots of shortwave activity.
Gear used: Yamaha RY-10, Yamaha TG-33, Realistic (Moog) MG-1, Alesis Wedge.
